The Airsoft guns are the ones which are usually referred to as the pellet guns or BB guns. The Airsoft guns also like the BB guns launch projectiles which are of spherical shape. Generally the Airsoft bb guns have a diameter of about 6 mm or 0.24 inches. These guns are usually made of non metallic substances such as plastic. And also mention must be made that these guns are designed specifically to impart damage within low target range. The user of Airsoft guns needs to be careful because although it is a gun having low target range it can be dangerous if used carelessly. These guns are generally used in war games like paintball.
The Bb guns are also known to be used in certain competitions. The youth shooting program of the National Rifle Association in America has been making use of the Bb guns for competitions having age limit of 18 years. The classes organized by the Association are quite popular among the youth. The US army was also known to have made use of the bb guns for training their recruits during the Vietnam War.
